STAR WARS “Duel of the Fates” Gets a Great Drum Cover

“The galaxy is in a state of emergency!
The music industry has plunged into darkness,
falling victim to the iron grip of the galactic empire.
The empire wishes for all music
to be solely created by computers.”

Oh, you just have to love drummers. Especially drummers that are big Star Wars fans who use their musical prowess to give us an awesome cover of one of John Williams‘ best songs from the entire franchise.

This drum cover of William’s “Duel of the Fates” comes to us from Lorne Ahmed, replete with a full Star Wars opening scroll and fanfare, along with a Yoda hat that I must (and will) own.

I love everything about this version of an already terrific piece of music. It takes a song that is already frantic and gives it an even greater urgency, and the way it plays against the orchestra and choir creates a compelling dichotomy.

Plus, it gives us an excuse to watch the best part of Star Wars: Episode IThe Phantom Menace: the lightsaber battle between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn against Darth Maul.

(Tell me again why the best character in the prequels got eight minutes of screen time.)

Hey, internet, you know how much I love you, and how I’m always singing your praises? Can I get that epic battle re-cut with Ahmed’s version of the song? Can one of you do that for me? I thank you in advance.

Which other Star Wars piece from John Williams’ amazing score do you think would make for a great drum cover? Sing your best ideas in the comments below.
