Daisy Ridley and J.J. Abrams Will Re-Team for Non-STAR WARS Scifi

It’s pretty safe to say Star Wars: The Force Awakens was a major success, both financially and with fans. J.J. Abrams put together a gorgeous and heroic adventure set in the galaxy far, far away and it made everybody excited for what’s to come. One of the big reasons for that is the film’s lead actress, Daisy Ridley, who became a hero for the ages and a glorious Jedi-in-training to boot. Abrams was also apparently a big fan of Ridley because she’s just been cast in another, unrelated science fiction film he’s producing. Because why break up a good thing, ya know?

The Wrap is reporting that Ridley has been cast in the sci-fi romance Kolma for Paramount Pictures. The project has been in the works for a good long while, with many, many screenwriters having a pass at it at some point or another. The current draft was written by Megan Holley (Sunshine Cleaning) and Marielle Heller (Diary of a Teenage Girl) is in negotiations to direct.

The film is based on an Israeli TV movie called All I’ve Got and will be about a couple who gets in a car accident that leaves the man dead. 50 years later, as she’s heading to the afterlife, the woman gets a choice to reunite with her true love in the nether-realm or go back to that fateful day and try it all over again. Surely, twists and/or turns are involved.

Since The Force Awakens, Ridley has been an actress in very high demand, with rumors being that she was sought after for Lara Croft in the next Tomb Raider movie. This would mark her first major film outside of the Star Wars universe, but it’s still with Bad Robot and Abrams. Baby steps, friends.
