Although Star Wars: The Force Awakens introduced Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron as the next generation of heroes, the first two movies of the new trilogy hasn’t really given them much time together as a trio. However, this week’s Star Wars: Poe Dameron #26 is going to change that with the first canonical scene to take place after The Last Jedi. In this preview page from Marvel, writer Charles Soule and artist Angel Unzueta depict Poe, Rey, and Finn on the Millennium Falcon as they reflect on how events could have played out if they had met earlier.
We first spotted this preview at Comic Book Resources, and it’s an interesting glimpse of the emerging dynamic between the trio. That said, there’s always the possibility that Episode IX could go in another direction. After all, Poe and Rey technically met in the novelization of The Force Awakens, but that meeting was retconned by The Last Jedi. The movies will always take priority over the novels and comics, but this is still a fun way to bring the heroes together.
The scene with the trio appears to set up a flashback adventure that starts just before The Force Awakens, as Poe gets a mission from General Leia to go to Jakku. This story also promises to reveal what happened to Poe after he survived the crash on Jakku as well as how he got off the planet and reunited with the Resistance. The answers are coming in Star Wars: Poe Dameron #26, which will be in stores on Wednesday, April 18. You can read more preview pages here.
