Darth Vader Joins STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT II

Aiming to draw from all three trilogies in the Star Wars canon, the upcoming game Star Wars Battlefront II has already confirmed the inclusion of the Prequels’ Darth Maul and the newest films’ central villain Kylo Ren in its multiplayer mode. Now, we have word that representing the Original Trilogy will be none other than the Dark Lord of the Sith himself, Darth Vader!

Via the official Playstation blog, EA has confirmed that Darth Vader will be a controllable character, and many of his signature moves from the films will be available to use within the game. So if you’ve been looking to Force choke a few hapless Rebels or toss your red lightsaber through a line of advancing enemies, then you’ll probably be happy with Vader’s abilities. Additionally, Vader will get even stronger as he becomes angrier during the battle, so his hits will deal out more damage and he’ll become a lot harder to kill. Clearly, he knows the power of the Dark Side.

A few brief clips of Vader in action can be seen on the official Star Wars Battlefront II page, and they appear to feature the Dark Lord slashing his way through the Rebels on Jakku, the Death Star, and on Yavin 4. Thanks to the mash-up of Star Wars heroes and villains from nearly every film, we may also get a few dream matches in this game. While we’d love to see Darth Vader and Darth Maul finally face each other, we’re not sure if that’s in the cards, as it’s plausible the game may not support villain-vs.-villain matches. But an Anakin Skywalker vs. Darth Vader battle may not be out of the question!

Star Wars Battlefront II will hit Playstation 4 and Xbox One on November 17.
