STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT Dev Diary Gives Us a Closer Look

After all of the inter-galactic excitement this past weekend at the Star Wars Celebration, we finally got our first look at D.I.C.E’s upcoming title Star Wars: Battlefront, and boy did it look impressive. With Star Wars excitement still at an all time high, the developers behind the highly anticipated shooter released the first episode of a four-part Star Wars: Battlefront Developer Diary series.

The video at the top of the post makes it abundantly clear that the title’s creators have really done their homework on this one. Thanks to their relationship with Lucasfilm they were able to visit the famous Star Wars archives and were granted access to Skywalker Sound–which allowed them to get their hands on the original film’s sound elements. They revealed, “when players pick up a lightsaber, or step into an X-wing in Star Wars: Battlefront, we want them to experience that same child-like sense of wonder we all felt when we saw the movies for the first time.”

Their vision, according to the game’s Design Director Niklas Fegraeus, “is to deliver what we consider the most authentic and realistic Star Wars universe ever created for a video game.” He continues, “Star Wars: Battlefront will let you live out your own Star Wars battle fantasies.”
