Stan Lee Picks the Winner of BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE

One of the all-time greatest comic book debates is a simple one soon to be answered. Who would win in a fight: Batman or Superman? That battle has happened several times in DC’s comic book universe, with both Batman and Superman emerging victorious on different occasions. That conflict also fuels the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

At last weekend’s Boston Comic Con, though, Marvel Comics icon Stan Lee was asked for his opinion about who would win in a battle between DC’s two biggest superheroes. And without hesitation, Lee said “Superman.”

“He’s indestructible and can do anything,” added Lee. “Batman relies on weapons. The fellow who created Batman, Bob Kane, is a friend of mine, so he’d be unhappy of me saying that. At the same time, Jerry Siegel, one of the creators of Superman, used to work for me, so I have divided loyalties.”

When pressed for a more definitive answer, Lee replied “If this is real—a fight between Batman and Superman—there’s no one who should bet on Batman.”

There may be some Batman fans and comic book creators who would object to that, but Lee is more than entitled to his own take on the conflict. Lee co-created most of Marvel’s enduring superheroes including Spider-Man, the X-Men, Hulk, the Avengers, Iron Man, and the Fantastic Four alongside artists Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, Don Heck and others.

It should be noted, however, that Lee has never written a Batman or Superman story featuring the classic incarnations of DC’s characters. The closest he came was a 2001 miniseries entitled Just Imagine Stan Lee…, which featured Lee’s take DC’s superheroes as if he had created them.

Moviegoers will discover which hero will win the battle when Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice premieres in theaters on March 25, 2016.

Comic fans, do you agree with Stan Lee about Superman’s inevitable victory? Or should the Dark Knight emerge victorious? Fight on in the comment section below!
