Square Enix is Bringing THEATRHYTHM FINAL FANTASY Sequel to the West

Well, it looks like I’m going to have to learn to spell “Theatrhythm” after all – Square Enix has announced that they’re releasing Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call in the U.S. and Europe sometime later this year.

The first game, for the 3DS and iOS, brought 25 years worth of Final Fantasy music into a touch and tap rhythm game/pseudo-RPG experience. The sequel seems to be offering more of the same, albeit with three times the tracks, as well as a new multiplayer “Versus Battle Music Sequence” mode. This time around, you can screw up online opponents’ games with special attacks (that was a feature in DJ Hero 2, right?).

My bet is that like the original, we can expect Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call sometime in the summer, with the mobile version to follow in the winter.
