Um…
Here’s a Russian show that bears a striking resemblance to an American show beloved by all Nerdists:
It’s Mystery Science Theater 3000 in what appears to be a less-than-authorized Russian version. This thing has been around for a year or so online, but I only noticed it because someone today tipped off Kevin Murphy, Tom Servo himself, that it exists, and he tweeted the news.
The Google Translation version of the show information from Google Video:

Spectacular.
Yes it’s a blatant rip-off, but leave them alone. THEY HAVE NOTHING, THEY LIVE IN RUSSIA FERCRISSAKES!
Russia does it with a lot of American shows.
Check out the Russian Married With Children….

ya know what they say about oboists…great embrasure. wink wink, nudge nudge.
Apparently Russia’s Sputnik moment was the launching of the Satellite of Love.
Why is there an FBI warning after the theme?
Oh for cripes sakes I’ll say it… In Soviet Union, movie MST3K’s you.
I feel dirty. Not in a good way.
A dog and penguin? Was there something offensive about the robots? Do robots serve different functions in Russia? Was there a Matrix-type event and now the entire country would rather see dogs and penguins being wacky because robots bring back too many terrible memories?
Or would it just be one plagiarism too far?
So, if this doesn’t get taken off the air as some sort of copyright infringement type of deal, this could be the greatest thing to happen to Russia since sliced communism. Enjoy this golden gift, comrades!
It’s adorable! If I could hug the intangible, I would hug this video.
