SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS Stop-Motion Halloween Special Releases Its First Trailer

Normally a movie debuting on Friday the 13th in October, set in a strange world full of weird creatures and evil ghosts, would have us worried about how we’d get to sleep after watching it. But that shouldn’t be a problem this year, as we’ll be spending that night with SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star in their fancy new Halloween special.

In the first full trailer for Nickelodeon‘s The Legend of Boo-Kini Bottom, the all-new stop-motion SpongeBob SquarePants Halloween movie debuting next month, the only one who seems to be frightened at what is happening is the ghost of the Flying Dutchman. That’s because he can’t seem to convince a silly yellow square sponge to take the spooky holiday seriously.

We first told you about this film back in July, when we got a sneak peek at how much work went into making this special stop-motion world of Bikini Bottom come to life. But seeing so many of our favorite characters in their Halloween costumes, and how the different locales were transformed for the scariest day of the year, is even better than we would have hoped.

And considering how many horror movies we watch in October, it will be nice to get a short, fun reprieve from being frightened. Especially on Friday the 13th of all days. Besides, as Patrick says, “The only thing you have to fear is… yourself!” He continues to be one of the great philosophers of our time.

The Legend of Boo-Kini Bottom debuts at 7 p.m. (ET/PT) on 10/13 on Nickelodeon.
