SpaceX Engine Facility Tour is a Raucous, Fiery Music Video

It seems that nearly every SpaceX video has the goal of making rockets, space exploration, and Mars all somehow even more inspiring, and straight-up cooler, than they already are intrinsically. So it should come as no surprise that the aerospace company’s short video tour of its engine testing facility in McGregor, TX has been turned into a rockin’ music video featuring a ton of rocket engines spitting hot fire like Drogon in battle.

Watch the video in 4k for an even sweeter visual treat.

Although SpaceX designs and builds its rocket engines at its Hawthorne headquarters in California, they all have to go through testing at the location in McGregor. In the clip, we see the company’s SuperDraco engine, a Falcon 9 first stage (the biggest part of the rocket, which SpaceX has been re-landing and reusing), and the Dragon capsule all undergoing static fire testing. There are also other rocket engines featured, and it’s likely they’re the company’s Merlin engines, which are used on the Falcon 9. It’s unclear if there’s any glimpse at the Raptor rocket engine, which will likely be what powers the globe-hopping BFR.

The facility itself is a beast, encompassing more than 4,000 acres of land and providing space for 12 test stands that operate 18 hours a day, six days a week, testing rocket engines as well as rocket stages. There are also, apparently, a lot of cows around as well.

What do you think about this SpaceX engine testing facility? Did the video work for getting you excited about space and massive thrust power? Give us your thoughts in the comments below!
