As the Quad City DJs so succinctly put it, “Everybody get up, it’s time to slam now, we’ve got a real jam going down, welcome to the Space Jam.” And, really, nothing has ever been truer than that. And while it’s been 20 years since the movie Space Jam came out (and that sounds like a lie perpetuated by the Illuminati), it may soon be time to reiterate the QCD’s epic words. The long-gestating Space Jam 2 is on its way, and will be directed by the Fast & Furious franchise’s Justin Lin. We’re assuming Han will make an appearance and tell Bugs Bunny about his plans to go to Tokyo.

The Hollywood Reporter is Hollywood reporting that, while early in the process, Lin and writer Andrew Dodge are working on the script, much to the chagrin of Nerdist News writer Ben Mekler who thought for sure he was a shoo-in, having dreamed about more adventures of basketball and Looney Tunes for eons.

The first film starred Michael Jordan and several other NBA stars and celebrities as themselves as he is pulled into the cartoon world to assist the Looney Tunes in a game of hoops against space aliens who stole the abilities of then-current pro basketballers. Space Jam 2 will star LeBron James, though we’re not sure what else will carry over or if Mugsy Bogues will have any involvement.

Lin is no stranger to sequels, having made almost nothing but in his career, including Fast & Furious entries 3-6 and the upcoming Star Trek Beyond. Dodge has written a few projects with Lin as well as the 2013 movie Bad Words in which Jason Bateman and a small child spell and say very dirty things. Naturally, we’re not assuming Bugs Bunny is going to start driving street racers and swearing at waitresses, but the movie might have a frenetic energy.

And let us not forget the soundtrack to the film, which gave the world things like Seal’s rendition of “Fly Like an Eagle,” R. Kelly’s “I Believe I Can Fly,” several famous rappers doing a song about the Monstars, and Chris Rock and Barry White teaming up for “Basketball Jones.” So… maybe that’ll happen with this one too.
