Sony Leaks Reveal Planned 22 JUMP STREET and MEN IN BLACK Crossover

First comes high school, then comes colleges, but what do you do after you graduate with your B.A. in total B.S.? You join the Men in Black, clearly.

One of the most surprising details to emerge from this week’s hacking attack on Sony isn’t that Spider-Man nearly made his way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Rather, according to leaked e-mails from Sony motion picture czar Amy Pascal, the studio planned the next follow-up to 22 Jump Street to be a crossover with Men in Black. Yes, you read that right.

Evidently the studio was so excited about it, they will be “greenlighting the movie off the concept and talent involved” even though “[they] don’t have a script yet”, according to an e-mail from Columbia Pictures president of production Hannah Minghella.

Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are not expected to return; rather, Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill would take over the franchise, which would likely be directed by the all-star directing duo of Phil Lord and Chris Miller. In spite of the change, the stars are excited about the project too. In an e-mail to Pascal, Jonah Hill wrote, ““jump street merging with mib i think that’s clean and rad and powerful.”

With the level of star power attached and the amount of money each franchise has generated individually, the crossover is easily one of Sony’s highest-profile projects on their coming slate with a hopeful release date of 2016/2017.

While it’s exceedingly shitty that the surprise has been ruined, at least we have one reason to look forward to 2016/2017 (apart from the endless slate of DC Comics and Marvel movies).

Now the real question is how did Phil Lord and Chris Miller leave this out of the 22 Jump Street end credits?
