Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon Discusses Her New Autobiography on INSIDE OUT

Kim Gordon is one of America’s most important experimental musicians, full stop. Along with former husband and bandmate Thurston Moore, the two Sonic Youth performers helped usher in an era of rebelliousness in mainstream music during the early ’90s and have been thought of as a creative unit in almost all of the history that has been written about the band and their impact.

However, when the two acrimoniously split a few years ago, it led many to wonder about the individual identities of these two creative forces. Gordon used her newfound freedom as an opportunity to collect her thoughts in her new autobiography, Girl In A Band, which discusses seminal moments in her life, including her divorce from Moore.

For the interview series Inside Out, Gordon discusses several chapters of her life with journalist Miranda Sawyer. It’s very strange to see her speak so frankly about seminal moments in her life without an extremely distorted instrument in hand, but it is well worth your time.

If you are interested in checking out her book (it’s great! I swear!) you can order it here.
