SONIC THE HEDGEHOG Runs into LEGO DIMENSIONS in New Trailer

Ever since Sonic snatched the One Ring from Gollum during an epic E3 trailer, we’ve been waiting for LEGO Dimensions to unleash its Sonic the Hedgehog expansion. Now, the launch trailer for the Sonic pack is here, and it’s bringing the chaos.

Warner Bros. Interactive has unleashed the best look yet at LEGO Dimensions: Sonic the Hedgehog, and there’s a lot to love if you ever enjoyed playing Sega’s most famous character. Many of the franchise’s iconic locations have been put into the game, including the Green Hill, Emerald Coast, and the Labyrinth zones. There are also a lot of familiar faces in this trailer, including Sonic’s frequent companions Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow; as well as the return of Mecha Sonic.

Of course, Doctor Eggman is ever present as well, and he’s still one of our favorite video game bad guys. The trailer had a lot of fun Eggman moments, but the best one was easily Sonic’s apparent appreciation for Eggman’s mustache. Even if Sonic was being sarcastic, we think it’s pretty flawless too. There’s also something inherently charming about the way that Eggman responded to the compliment.

Because this is LEGO Dimensions, it just wouldn’t be the same game unless there were a few wild crossovers as well. That’s why Doctor Who‘s Twelfth Doctor and Fantastic Beasts‘ Newt Scamander made cameo appearances in the trailer. We would have never predicted those character combinations, but we love them.

Since LEGO Dimensions has done such a great job of reviving various franchises, we’d love to see them tackle a few more classic Sega properties. Altered Beast, Outrun, and Golden Axe would be our top choices; but Crazy Taxi would probably be a great fit for this delightfully insane multiverse.

The Sonic the Hedgehog LEGO Dimensions expansion pack is available now.
