Of all the amazing Star Wars trailers we’ve seen in the last few years, both from Lucasfilm and fans, the most fun one we’ve come across was a trailer for Rogue One set to the Beastie Boys‘ “Sabotage.” But listen all of y’all, because someone has done the same for Solo: A Star Wars Story, and it’s even better. We now have to consider this important question: is “Sabotage” a great trailer song or the greatest trailer song of all-time?
This piece of internet perfection was shared to YouTube by War Starts at Midnight Podcast, who say they couldn’t help but notice the similarities between the young scruffy nerf herder in the Solo trailer and the young James T. Kirk from the new Star Trek films. But this isn’t just the exact same trailer from Lucasfilm with a new backing track, they re-cut the footage to maximize the effect.
We did not think it was possible for either Donald Glover’s Lando Calrissian or Emilia Clarke’s Qi’ra to look any cooler than they already do in the official trailer, but having them walk off the Millennium Falcon or hit the hyperdrive, while “Sabotage” plays in the background definitely enhances how bad ass they both appear. Everything about the movie looks better set to this song, and we were already pretty hyped by the regular version of the trailer.
What other movie trailer should be set to “Sabotage?” We want to listen to your best ideas in the comments below.
