What Do the Latest SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY Reshoots Mean?

Solo: A Star Wars Story is back in reshoots. No, not those ones, we mean reshoots of the reshoots. Is it time to worry about the movie? We discussed that on today’s Nerdist News Talks Back, along with the future of the X-Men at Disney, and the best swole Kylo Ren memes.

Guest hosting again today was Mothership writer Amy Vorpahl, and she was joined by Nerdist News writer Aliza Pearl, as well as producers Jason Nguyen and Jesse Gill. They started with reports that Solo, which already had four months of reshoots under new director Ron Howard, is going back for more, even though the film comes out in May. How worried are we about this? Should we be? Is this why we still don’t have a trailer? What are our expectations for the movie at this point?

At least one upcoming movie got some good news though, as Drew Goddard’s X-Force film is still a go despite Disney’s purchase of Fox. Does this have us feeling optimistic for how Disney will handle characters like Deadpool? Should they bring back Ellen Page for Tim Miller’s Kitty Pryde film? And what do we make of X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner’s comments she’d happily work with Marvel on a crossover film? Is there a chance that could happen, or is this just someone thinking about their job security?

Finally today’s show ended with a new segment we’re calling “Know Your Meme,” in honor of the release of an official photo of shirtless Kylo Ren from The Last Jedi. We looked at some of the best memes for it, but which is our favorite? Are these memes important in any way for the continued health of Star Wars, or just silly fun for us? And after this and the Kylo Ren challenge, has the new Supreme Leader hit his peak already?

Remember if you want to be a part of the conversation with us tune in at 1:00 p.m. PT to our YouTube and Alpha channels every weekday when Nerdist News Talks Back airs live. Because we’re live you never have to worry about reshoots.

We still want to hear from you, so talk back to us about today’s topics in the comments below.
