SNL “GP Yass!” Sketch Features the Ladies of RUPAUL’S DRAG RACE

Every now and then, Saturday Night Live makes one of those mock commercials sketches advertising something you actually wish was real. Such was the case last night, when SNL did a sketch in which host Steve Carell and cast member Heidi Gardner are driving down the road, and decide to use their custom GPS, which only uses famous drag entertainers. In fact, the two drag queens used in the sketch should be very familiar to fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race, as they were former contestants Peppermint and Jiggly Caliente.

Among the drag queens available to use in GP Yass! are Candy Travesty, Uneeda Triscuit, and someone named Dee Klein’d. Now, we think those might possibly be the names of real queens, but if they’re not, someone snatch those names like you’d snatch a busted wig, because “Dee Klein’d” is just too good to go unused. If there were a real GPS that said things like “Bitch, slow your ass down so you don’t squash a child flat like a squirrel,” I guarantee you I know a half dozen people who would order one right this second.

This fabulous little sketch should tide all of you fans over until RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 4 starts next month. Also, as a super fan of Drag Race myself, can I say it’s nice to see Peppermint and Jiggly grow beyond the show and have amazing careers? Peppermint became the first trans drag entertainer to be an official part of a Broadway show in the Go-Go’s musical Head Over Heels, and Jiggly has most recently appeared on the show Pose on FX. Keep werkin’ it, ladies!
