SNL 40 is shaping up to be a major comedy event with stars lining up to be a part of the tribute show. So much talent has been added that the special will add a half hour to its run time bringing the total length of the show to a whopping three and a half hours, Deadline reports. SNL 40 has also confirmed Billy Crystal, Bradley Cooper, Edward Norton, Miley Cyrus, Kevin Nealon, Ana Gasteyer, Colin Quinn, Joe Piscopo, Tim Meadows and Will Forte will be taking part in the special this Sunday night.
The list of comedy legends who will be participating in the anniversary special is getting long and pretty incredible. That list includes Eddie Murphy, Jim Carrey, Laraine Newman, Dan Aykroid, Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Steve Martin, Amy Poehler, Chris Rock, Maya Rudolph, Jerry Seinfeld, Adam Sandler, Martin Short, Betty White, Kristen Wiig and many, many more.
In addition to announcing talent for the special, NBC also unveiled the first-ever SNL app, a free, innovative, personalized SNL experience. The app features over 300 hours of video, never before released moments, original digital content, personalized features, and SNL Emojis including favorite classic characters like the Coneheads and the Land Shark, Hans and Frans, Sean Connery’s podium from Celebrity Jeopardy as well as Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg’s infamous holiday gift box.
SNL 40 premieres this Sunday at 8PM on NBC. Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker and Carson Daly will host the SNL 40th Red Carpet Special directly beforehand at 7/6 central.
