Sneak A Peek At The Monsters From The Jack Black GOOSEBUMPS Movie!

One of the biggest highlights of my Comic Con 2014 was the preview of the Goosebumps movie starring Jack Black. First of all, I am an unapologetic fan of Black and will watch him do anything. That said, as some of you may know, horror is a genre very close to my heart so when I learned that a live-action Goosebumps movie was on the way I was excited but also a little hesitant. The preview at SDCC only grew my anticipation as towards the end of the event Black was joined on stage by Slappy the evil ventriloquist dummy. Slappy, apparently the ringleader of evil in the upcoming film, summoned what must have been twenty real life, unique scary creatures who were there to “steal” Jack Black.

What was more amazing though was not only the diversity and the number of monsters who graced the stage but how, for a “kids” movie, scary they were. Now, we’ve gotten a look at ten of the ghouls emerging from the Goosebumps universe and they are fantastic!

In the gallery below you’ll notice a scary clown, a pumpkin demon, an awesome vampire, a mummy, a scarecrow, a pirate, a zombie, a gypsy woman and, of course, the one who controls them all, Slappy the ventriloquist dummy. What’s more impressive is the fact that even with out CGI, they are practical monsters featuring gorgeous make up. Could this be a good sign for the future of YA horror both in books and on screen? Here’s hoping!

Goosebumps the movie starring Jack Black hits theaters on August 7, 2015.

Looks like the vampire from Vampire’s breath, which was one of my favorites along with the first mask one and the second ooze one.
