Sleater-Kinney Taps Gerard Way, Andy Samberg And More For ‘No Cities To Love’ Video

In hot anticipation of Sleater-Kinney‘s newest album, No Cities To Love, which Sub Pop will release on January 20, the legendary trio just dropped a new video for the LP’s title track and it’s jam-packed with fellow rockers and celebrity friends.

To see people like actress Ellen Page, writer/performer Miranda July and Saturday Night Live‘s Vanessa Bayer go nutso as they perform the three-minute ditty makes us even more stoked to hear the first batch of new songs from the band since 2005’s The Woods.

As to be expected, guitarist Carrie Brownstein‘s Portlandia co-star Fred Armisen also makes an appearance in the clip, along with other awesome dudes like Brooklyn 99‘s Andy Samberg, Dinosaur Jr.’s J. Mascis and The Walking Dead‘s Norman Reedus.

Not only is the parade of stars super fun to watch, but it’s also cool to see them in their natural habitat. For example, Reedus appears to be a Sex Pistols fan because you can see a framed shot of Sid Vicious infamously devouring a hot dog (which was snapped by rock ‘n’ roll photographer Bob Gruen back in 1978) on the wall behind him.

Speaking of cred, bonus nerd points should also be given to Gerard Way, who can be seen rocking out while 12″ Kenner Star Wars figures of IG-88 and Dengar are pinned on the wall behind him.

In case you blinked and missed someone, here are all the celebs that sing their lil’ hearts out in the “No Cities To Love” video: Fred Armisen, Gerard Way, Brie Larson, Ellen Page, Natasha Lyonne, Andy Samberg, Connie Britton, Miranda July, Norman Reedus, Sarah Silverman, Evan Rachel Wood, J Mascis, Vanessa Bayer, Janet Weiss, Corin Tucker, and Carrie Brownstein.

To hear what the song sounds like when the band actually sings it, head over to NPR for a first listen.

Sleater-Kinney’s new album, No Cities To Love, will be released on January 20. For more information on upcoming tour dates, visit the band’s web site.
