Slayer’s Comic Book Preview Pages Have All the Gore You Could Ever Want

In September 2015, legendary thrash metal band Slayer released Repentless, their 12th studio album, and with it came a series of music videos that depicted gory scenes of prison riots, diner shootouts, and other bloody fun (not fun for the characters involved, but for us, the safe-and-sound observer). The band really got into the narrative they created with this clips, to the point where they decided to continue the journey with their first official comic book, Slayer: Repentless.

We got our hands on an advance copy and fell in love with the gruesome art of illustrator Guiu Vilanova, and now the band has shared the first six of those beautiful pages (via Rolling Stone), which are positively brutal. Check out the first page:

The story opens on two brothers, Adrian and Wyatt, the latter of whom left the family’s neo-Nazi group because he fell in love with a black woman. Adrian’s crew then goes on a rampage to destroy Wyatt’s world in the bloodiest ways possible.

Former Metalocalypse director Jon Schnepp wrote the comics and previously said of working on them, “It’s really strange writing this comic, since I came up with the storyline [in Spring 2016], and then the news items that are tearing up our country right now share the same spotlight as to what I’m writing about. It’s definitely a lot of sensitive subjects that need to be explored and addressed. What’s the best way to explore those? With the chaos of metal.”

The comic is scheduled to hit shelves on January 25. In the meantime, check out the rest of the preview pages below.
