Ska/Punk Is Back In 8-Bit Form

Pinhead Records, described on its Facebook page as “a new punk/ska/hardcore label based out of Tampa, FL and run by some douchebag named Dylan,” are the brains behind my new favorite musical sub genre: ska-punk 8-bit.

Punk Goes 8-Bit: Level 3 is the third such release from the “douchebag named Dylan”; Some of the highlights are Catch 22’s “Keasbey Nights” (Track 2), Goldfinger’s “Here in Your Bedroom” (track 6), and Millencolin’s “Bullion” (Track 9). Prior volumes contain OG Nintendo-style versions of songs from Blink 182, Green Day, Propagandhi and many more old favorites.

You can download the albums for free, but are encouraged to leave a donation to keep the site running. Seems like they are a pretty small operation over there, so anything to help them out, I imagine, would be greatly appreciated. I donated because I want to hear more of these. So many more.

Any fans of old punk and ska/punk out there? Who else wishes they could replay Super Mario Bros. with this as the soundtrack? Comments below, Rude Boys and Rude Girls!
