SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR Red Band Trailer

Direct from Comic-Con, where everything entertainment-wise in the free world seemed to happen, is the new, lengthy Red Band trailer for Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, the perpetually long-awaited sequel to their 2005 pulp-comic hyper-noir. As with the first film, this one will have multiple stories with overlapping characters all surrounding the crime-ridden Basin City. We’ve seen little bits here and there, but this nearly 3:30 is by far the most we’ve gotten. And the weird thing? For such a long trailer, I still don’t feel like much was given away. Take a gander!

Looks pretty righteous, don’t you think? Lots of splashes of white gore and shadows no real lights could create, along with that distinctive patter for which the books and first film were known. And hey, did you see Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez as the two dying fellows in the alley at the beginning of the trailer? Yep, that was them.

The film features four stories, the same as the first one. Three of them are actually prequels to the first movie (as you can tell by several of the dead characters not being dead here) and the other was written especially for the film. “Just Another Saturday Night” is a short featuring Marv (Mickey Rourke), and the titular “A Dame to Kill For”, being the second Sin City comics storyline, features Dwight (Josh Brolin) getting embroiled with the mysterious and deadly Ava Lord (Eva Green) and the events that lead him to needing a new Clive-Oweny face. The other two storylines are new; one with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and the other featuring Nancy Callahan’s (Jessica Alba) quest for revenge against Senator Roark (Powers Boothe) for the death of her beloved Hartigan (Bruce Willis). It’s a tough place to live; lots of emotions all around.

We’re pretty durn stoked about this movie; are you? Does this trailer get you more or less excited for the film’s release on August 22nd? Let’s have a chat about it in the comments below.

Wow, this is how a film-going experience should look like! This is cinema of the highest order. Electric, hypnotizing, breathtaking, totally masterful. Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller have created a deliciously dark and completely unique universe and this phenomenal red band trailer proves this sequel is ready to surpass even its unforgettable predecessor in the list of the greatest films of all time. Mesmerizing direction, fantastic screenplay, incredible acting, flawless cinematography, outstanding editing and terrific use of the 3D dimension. Oh, and Eva Green as Ava Lord. I mean, this is pure awesomeness. Can’t wait!!!

Cautious. Think the actual Dame to Kill for Stuff will be good because the books were good. But new Frank Miller writing fills me with DREAD. He’s a complete megalomaniacal lunatic now. AND he writes badly.
