Watch This SILVER SURFER Cosplayer Skate Through New York City

In the Marvel Universe, it wouldn’t be that unusual to see the Silver Surfer soaring through New York City—but in our world, a silver dude on a surfboard is gonna turn some heads. And that’s exactly what happened when Jesse Wellens cosplayed as the Silver Surfer through the streets of NYC on a modified surfboard with wheels.

We first heard about the video thanks to Gothamist, who posted Wellens’ attempt at bringing the hero to life for the PrankvsPrank YouTube channel. But this wasn’t his first wheeled rodeo: Wellens previously pulled off a similar stunt as Aladdin on his magic carpet. This time, Wellens went much further, painting himself head-to-toe in silver, although we do have to take away points because Wellens didn’t fully commit to the Silver Surfer’s look: the surfer doesn’t have hair!

Silver Surfer #1 from Marvel Comics

Aside from Wellens not shaving his head or wearing a bald cap, it is still one of the best Silver Surfer cosplays that we’ve seen. More impressively, some of the New Yorkers even seemed to recognize the surfer, even though it’s been nearly ten years since Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer marked the live-action debut of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby‘s most famous cosmic character. It’s all further proof that the Silver Surfer continues to resonate as the ultimate outsider on Earth.
