Silicon Valley Gets GAME OF THRONES-ified in Opening Credits Video

The world of tech startups can be cut-throat, and anyone who’s seen HBO’s hilarious series Silicon Valley knows just how quickly friends can turn on each other, placing business before anything else. It’s fitting, then, that Vanity Fair created a video based on the opening credits of Game of Thrones to compare the world of tech companies to the deadly, dark fantasy full of treachery, murder, and incest.

While the video doesn’t specifically link any of the companies to known houses from the show, it does take the rise of internet and tech companies and gives them a fantastical twist. It’s, frankly, a little uncanny how well this concept lends itself to the fantasy novel’s dramatic, devious doings. Describing companies like Google as an army “fierce of spirit and nerdy of demeanor,” or referring to Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg as “would-be Gods from the Quads of Stanford,” lends well to the satirical look at our new world overlords. I personally would like to thank whomever from Vanity Fair wrote the line that describes Zuckerberg as an “impetuous young warlord hell bent on collecting his enemy’s faces in a book.” Needless to say, this has us thinking up a ton of hilarious bits for the actual HBO series of the same name to pull off next season.

Let us know what you think of the video in the comments below, and if you think you can match up companies to Game of Thrones houses, leave that for us as well!
