SILENCE OF THE LAMBS Works Surprisingly Well as a Rom-Com Trailer

It’s an classic love story: Woman meets man, man falls in love with woman, both study each other like lab experiments, but eventually things don’t work out because only one of them enjoys murder and the taste of human livers. Okay, not so much a classic love story as a very poor summation of The Silence of the Lambs. But still, the film that made a serial killer and cannibal seem like a pretty cool guy to hang out with (when he’s behind some bullet-proof glass) also works surprisingly well as a rom-com.

The Silence of the Lambs trailer mix, which turns the classic 1991 horror film into something you’d watch during an Amazon Prime-and-keep-the-lights-on-extremely-bright-please session comes via Laughing Squid, and was created by Cinefix over at Mashable. Mashable notes that the “thrilling crime drama” would work less creepily and with more hilarity if the plot revolved around Clarice and Hannibal falling in love with each other. You know, if there was some kind of… romantic quid pro quo between them.

Even though the idea is ridiculous, it makes sense that this unexpected vibe works for the film. There’s obviously a lot of tension between Hannibal Lecter and Agent Starling. And we know he’s a mad man, but did you take a close look at Lecter’s bachelor pad? In cities like L.A. or New York City, you’d have to pay an arm and a leg for a place like that! Although those limbs would pair well with a nice Chateau Petrus.

What do you think about this rom-com take on the classic horror film? It puts its thoughts in the comments below or else it gets the hose again!
