Short Film Shows the Life, Death, and Life of an iPhone

When I was little, I remember in school they would show us a movie called A Day in the Life of a One Dollar Bill. It basically showed a dollar going through multiple transactions during the day, and coincidentally getting back to its original owner. Now, while this isn’t a direct analogy, this short film by Paul Trillo gave me those nostalgic feelings.

The Life and Death of an iPhone tells the story of just that. Starting with its creation in the factory, we see an iPhone “born” when it’s unboxed by its owner, and we watch as the phone lives life right next to him. We are then witness to the apparent death of the phone, as well as its “rebirth,” as you’ll see in the film. What I found interesting was how the film shifts from a cool POV video of the iPhone to a commentary on how we tend to depend on our phones a little more than we should.

It was easy for the film to be shot from the iPhone’s POV, as the entire film was shot and edited ON an iPhone using the Cameo app from Vimeo.

You can check out more of Paul Trillo’s videos on his Vimeo channel here.

To get information on the Cameo app so you can make your OWN movies, you can check that out here.

What did you guys think? Are you as obsessed with your phone as this guy seemed to be? Are you also wondering why he didn’t just try to get the screen fixed first? Let me know on Twitter or in the comments below.
