ShirtPunch! Unveils Four New HANNIBAL-inspired Tees

The brutal second season of Hannibal seems like an unlikely source of inspiration for some new tees. It’s an odd association, the violence, brutality, and elegance of that series being associated with crew necks. Maybe a line of suits based on the look of the sartorially-inclined Dr. Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen)? You can have that idea for free, Mr. Fuller.

Anyway, tee maker ShirtPunch! debuted four designs inspired by Hannibal, just in time for the home video release of the second season, which is out today from Lionsgate.

All three of the shirts are from designer teevstee, and feature the black stag motif in some way. The imagery alludes to specter haunting FBI profiler Will Graham’s (Hugh Dancy) hallucinatory visions throughout the first and second seasons, an animalistic clue that keeps the troubled serial killer hunter from seeing the face of the series’ true villain, Hannibal Lecter.

While “Suchness and Illusion” (the one featuring the stag against the black background) is my favorite, I can see fans gravitating towards “Ambiguous Designs.” That shirt unites Mikkelsen and co-star Gillian Anderson in a splattery double image, hinting at the twisted (and twisty) relationship between Dr. Lecter and his own shrink.

That relationship, by the way, will feature prominently in the third season of Hannibal as the duo flee the law following the events of the season two finale. This is according to series creator Bryan Fuller during this year’s Comic-Con panel.
