Brace yourselves: we’ve got many ups and one huge downer in this morning’s TV-Cap. It’s Not a Game. Sherlock season four is finally almost here. After waiting since 2014 for the beginning of a new series, fans will be rewarded on January 1, 2017. BBC also kindly released a new trailer with the date announcement. The next series looks like it will be so cheerful! (Kidding). [Nerdist]

A Sign. Skip on ahead if you haven’t watched The Walking Dead premiere! Now that you’ve been warned: the premiere had a subtle moment that will do even more things to your heart and feelings. Thoughts and Theories. The release of the first trailer for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life means new footage to examine and overanalyze. If you haven’t found the time to go frame-by-frame yet, don’t worry, I did, and I’ve assembled seven thoughts and theories about the trailer here at Nerdist.
Mom Problems. The next Star Wars Rebels will pit Sabine against her past. She runs into some Empire-leaning Mandalorians in “Imperial Supercommandos,” and the above clip teases a connection between her mother and the Imperials. Ruh-roh. The next episode airs October 29.
What’s Next? Black Mirror has tackled a variety of technology and looked at how said tech can lead us down dangerous roads, but what’s left for them to focus on? Change Your View. It’s been 10 years since the first Planet Earth, and BBC America has decided it’s time to take us on another trip around the globe. Planet Earth II looks to be a positively stunning exploration of the vast planet we call home, and it will debut on January 28.

Showrunner Woes. Okay, time for that sad news I mentioned. Bryan Fuller is stepping down as showrunner of Star Trek: Discovery. He’ll still be involved as an executive producer, but this means he’ll be slightly less “hands-on.” CBS released a statement pointing to Fuller’s other projects—he’s working on American Gods and Amazing Stories—as why he can’t work on the show day to day but emphasized that he’ll definitely be part of the team mapping out the story. So. Cute. Back to the good news! Disney is dusting off Muppet Babies and bringing it back to Disney Junior in early 2018. As you can tell from the above first look at the cartoon, they’re going the CG animation route. Like the first go ’round, the new Muppet Babies will center on the adventures of Kermit, Miss Piggy, and pals as they use their imagination in the playroom. [Nerdist, Image: Disney]
