One of the most popular heroines in animated television history returns this fall, as Netflix and DreamWorks Animation Television have revealed our very first look at the highly-anticipated Netflix original series She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, as well as announcing a fall premiere date of November 16. These new images give fans their first looks at several of the series’ main characters, including Adora, a.k.a. She-Ra, her allies Glimmer and Bow, and the villainous Catra. Another image reveals Bright Moon Castle, the capital of Etheria and home base to the Rebellion, She-Ra’s allies. You can check out the new images down below in our gallery.
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power tells the story of an orphan named Adora who leaves behind her former life in the evil Horde when she discovers a magic sword that transforms her into the mythical warrior princess She-Ra. Along the way, she finds a new family in the Rebellion as she unites a group of magical princesses in the ultimate fight against evil. The reinterpretation of the ’80s classic is coming to us from Eisner Award-winning author and executive producer Noelle Stevenson (Lumberjanes) and executive producer Chuck Austen (Steven Universe) who are ready to introduce one of the original girl power icons for a new generation of young fans.
The voice cast features Aimee Carrero (Elena of Avalor) as Adora/She-Ra; Karen Fukuhara (Suicide Squad) as Glimmer; AJ Michalka (The Goldbergs) as Catra; Marcus Scribner (black-ish) as Bow; Reshma Shetty (Royal Pains) as Angella; Lorraine Toussaint (Orange is the New Black) as Shadow Weaver; Keston John (The Good Place) as Hordak; Lauren Ash (Superstore) as Scorpia; Christine Woods (Hello Ladies) as Entrapta; Genesis Rodriguez (Time After Time) as Perfuma; Jordan Fisher (Grease Live!) as Seahawk; Vella Lovell (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) as Mermista; Merit Leighton (Alexa and Katie) as Frosta; Sandra Oh (Killing Eve) as Castaspella; and Krystal Joy Brown (Motown: The Musical) as Netossa. No sign of She-Ra’s famous twin brother yet (He-something?), but who knows what the future holds.
