Hodors giant dong is in a few scenes right?
I wholeheartedly agree with you guys…he really comes off in a holier than thou condescending manner and seems overly eager to correct Sandra and Dave rather than provide a nonconfrontational, safe environment to discuss sexual topics. Goes against what this podcast is, IMHO. Pretty sure Sandra and Dave understand the First Amendment. And I’m pretty sure no matter what awards his work wins, I’m not interested.
I’ve pretty much been encouraged to never read anything from Klein and I’ll steer clear of his patronizing dirge in any podcast or article permanently.
Bring the sex-positive experts who can pontificate without proselytizing their own products, and I’m down – this was quite the opposite.
I agree with Jack. Dr. Klein rubbed me the wrong way and felt like he was talking down to Sandra & Dave as well as the listener. I’d much rather hear Sandra & Dave postulate on things and try to figure it out themselves. Klein has a tendency in this interview to sound like the people he’s fighting against (the religious right) and it turns you off to wanting to listen to anything he says.
But on the topic of big fancy words from early in the podcast – Cataclysmic was my favorite word for a long time.
I imagine that I agree with everything Klein has to say about policy, but he really rubbed me the wrong way with this interview. His approach is patronising and sleazy. He appears to believe that he has a monopoly on reasoning as opposed to emotions.
He reminds me of an old boss I used to have who would often use the “I understand why you might feel that way, but…” line. It’s advance warning that he’s going to side step your question/statement by reframing it as a strawman or answer something totally unrelated. It’s infuriating and transparent.
He should be taking notes from Sandra & Dave rather than vice versa. Being candid is so valuable.
