Seth Rogen’s SAUSAGE PARTY Prank Shocks Supermarket Customers with Talking Food

How many of us would change our eating habits if, right before we bit into our food, we discovered it could speak to us ? You’d think the answer to that question would be “all,” but based on the reactions of these grocery store customers to meeting some sentient edibles the answer is probably “not much at all.”

To promote his new R-rated animated film Sausage Party, Seth Rogen placed some high quality animatronic foods (a cantaloupe, a couple loaves of bread, and the world’s largest sausage) into a real New York City store and surprised passersby with some heckling. Needless to say, New Yorkers aren’t really stunned by too many things, so after the initial shock of being spoken to by a piece of fruit they just rolled with the punches.

We first saw this at Entertainment Weekly, and now we all hope to reach the point in our lives where we are as comfortable in our own skin as the older gentleman here—the one that calmly responded to a talking cantaloupe that asked him if he was about to eat the cantaloupe’s friends and family by saying, “You’re not my type, kid.”

The funniest part of the whole thing was when Rogen’s talking sausage responded to the young guy that asked if he’d ever eaten a sausage himself by asking how many hipsters he’s eaten.

So yeah, if our food started talking to us we’d probably just adapt and deal with it as quickly as these people did. But man, we hope all edible items don’t all have Seth Rogen’s laugh.

Sausage Party opens today, August 12. What food would be the worst to have a conversation with? We’re hungry to hear from you in the comments below.
