SESAME STREET Takes a Magical Turn with a HARRY POTTER Parody

Sesame Street doesn’t need any help to be more entertaining and educational, but it sure doesn’t hurt for them to team up with popular franchises from time to time. We’ve seen the show for kids parody Star Wars and Sherlock, and now they’ve gone to an especially enchanted place: Harry Potter. Cookie Monster stars as the boy who lived in Sesame Street: Furry Potter and The Goblet of Cookies, and it couldn’t be any more endearing.

In order to get to the Goblet full of delicious cookies, Furry Potter has to listen to directions. He doesn’t even have to learn spells from Professor Crumblemore or face dragons, he just has to follow instructions. Cookie Monster has almost no attention span – he would so fail that O.W.L. test – so you can imagine how it goes. Watch and see:

Furry Potter succeeds! And he does it without ticking off all his friends. Huzzah! Besides teaching children a valuable lesson about listening carefully (including bringing in a giant spider to get the point across – yay for teaching with fear), the parody has enough Harry Potter touches to make any muggle happy. Once Furry Potter gets to the room with the Goblet of Cookies, be sure to look at the pictures and house banners on the walls in the background.

This parody worked so well that I hope they bring Furry Potter back for more lessons. They could come up with a cookie related goal for each film in the Harry Potter series. Regardless of whether that happens, I look forward to seeing a Furry Potter cosplay at conventions next year.
