See King Kong in Action in the KONG: SKULL ISLAND Trailer Tease

The Seventh Wonder of the World cuts a mean figure in the lead-off story in today’s Movie Morsels, featuring new footage of King Kong himself in Kong: Skull Island. Plus, we have an update on the Birds of Prey movie and Jurassic World 2, new posters for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, and more!

Kong: Skull Island

When Kong: Skull Island opens next year, it will give audiences the biggest version of King Kong they’ve ever seen. An ape that truly befits the size of today’s IMAX screens. Although it’s impossible to get a true sense of scale from a few seconds of tweeted footage, there’s enough intensity in the following video to get my pulse racing with anticipation for the full trailer reveal on Wednesday of this week…

Birds of Prey

When we next see Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, the breakout character of this summer’s hit Suicide Squad, on the big screen, she’ll again be part of a super-team ensemble movie, albeit one composed of exclusively female superheroes and supervillains: DC’s Birds of Prey. Now we don’t have intel yet on exactly which characters will be featured in the film, but we do know who will be writing it. Christina Hodson, who also wrote the upcoming Transformers spinoff Bumblebee, has just been assigned the scripting chores. (Meanwhile, the search for a Bumblebee director will soon begin.)

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter

Not one, but two new Resident Evil: The Final Chapter posters have arrived online, heralding the fact that this is indeed the conclusion of Milla Jovovich’s messianic Alice’s journey and presumably her crusade against the Umbrella Corporation as well. The shit hits the fan one last time on January 27, 2017!

Jurassic World 2

Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt will be running for their lives from all the dinos money can buy once more before you know it! Jurassic World 2 will begin shooting in March, according to director J.A. Bayona, who’s in the pre-production stage now. “It’s about sharing views and working together to bring the story to life,” says the filmmaker of the collaborative process. “But, at the same time, the way I face telling a story is to find something very personal. I think there will be plenty of myself also in the film.”

Live by Night

Finally today, we have the second and final trailer for Ben Affleck’s crime drama Live by Night, a title that would seem equally applicable to the actor-director’s impending Batman movie!

Based, as was Affleck’s Gone Baby Gone, on a crime novel by Dennis Lehane, the film will slowly roll into theaters by the end of this year to qualify for awards season. Produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, it stars Affleck, Chris Cooper, Zoe Saldana, Elle Fanning, Sienna Miller, and Brendan Gleeson.
