See Darth Raise Leia in “Vader’s Little Princess”

Forsaking your family and taking up with a gnarly-faced spectre of evil incarnate is not the best way to show you’re a good dad. In fact, the bulk of Anakin Skywalker’s actions, post-volcano, were pretty suspect. I mean, he didn’t end up killing his twin children, Luke and Leia, but he certainly tried quite a bit. Author and illustrator Jeffrey Brown decided this would never do, and created a world in which Darth Vader, though still black in visage and in heart, was actually around to raise his kids. Last year, Brown released Darth Vader and Son, which visually depicted Vader’s relationship with Luke, and now he’s back to show us how Ol’ Weezy would have handled a headstrong daughter with Vader’s Little Princess, out today from Chronicle Books.

In Vader’s Little Princess, we see how a thoroughly out of his league Sith Lord manages a daughter who would rather make out with Han Solo than do her chores. She’s up until all hours of the night talking to her friends on R2-D2’s hologram projector and she’s always making faces at her father’s friend, Grand Moff Tarkin. The book follows Vader raising Leia from her early childhood up through late teens, even including his teaching her to fly a TIE Fighter, in 64 charmingly weird, full-color pages.

If this sounds like something that toggles your lightsaber, you’ll definitely want to enter Nerdist News’ exclusive contest to win a copy of Vader’s Little Princess for your very own. All you have to do is sign up on our contest page, then hit up our Facebook, Twitter and Google+ pages to give yourself extra chances at winning. You’ve only got until April 30th, 2013, though, so you’d best not dawdle, not unless you want Vader to send you to your room.
