We’ve been waiting half-a-decade for the next installment of the Mass Effect series, but the crew of the Tempest has been waiting even longer. During the events of the Mass Effect trilogy, a Pathfinder expedition was launched into deep space to find a new home for humanity. Mass Effect: Andromeda picks up several hundred years later, as the Tempest arrives in the Andromeda galaxy. Unfortunately for the crew, trouble is already waiting for them.
EA and BioWare have released a new cinematic trailer for Mass Effect: Andromeda that introduces the game’s central villain, who first appears with an ominous threat: “surrender or burn.” The trailer also features one of the new leading characters, Scott Ryder as well as a few members of his team: Peebee, Liam, Cora, and Drack. The other Pathfinder sibling, Sara Ryder isn’t featured, but players will have the option of controlling either Sara or Scott during the game.
While the new trailer doesn’t appear to have any gameplay footage, it does offer another look at the new alien races that the Tempest will encounter, as well as the vast open world galaxy. But somehow, we suspect that the crew of the Tempest is going to have to fight for their lives if they want to settle on a new world.
Mass Effect: Andromeda will be released on March 21 for Playstation 4, Playstation Pro, Xbox One, and PC.
