And just like that, the ending of this week’s episode shattered every Scream Queens fan’s heart thousand pieces. But before we get to the reason, there’s a lot more to discuss about “Handidates.” As the body count, and competition rose in the episode, the mystery continued to unravel. Hester still claims to know who the killer is, Chad is sure he knows, and Denise Hemphill is once again convinced that Zayday Williams is the culprit. There’s a lot to cover so let’s get started.
The Green Meanie is on a roll this week. Right after killing Chanel No. 5’s beau (who they dropped into the swamp, at Munsch’s suggestion), the murderer set his sights on Chad’s friend, Randall. Despite finally being free of his issue with being easily startled, Randall’s celebration was cut short when the baddie showed up and took him out. This led the girls to the cell of Hester, who last week claimed she knows who the killer is.
According to Hester the identity of the killer is obvious because the clues are right in front of them. When the Chanels don’t comply with Hester’s desire for a room with a view at the C.U.R.E. center (Munsch did, however, give Hester a VHS copy of the movie A Room with a View), the former killer asked for something even better: a time share in Cabo once a year. Fortunately that’s something the girls didn’t have to facilitate because a text from Chad came just in the knick of time. According to the message, he knows who the killer is. Bye bye, Hester (for now).
Based on the research he did last week, Chad is convinced that Doctor Holt (John Stamos) is the one behind the Green Meanie’s mask. The only evidence he presented was that Holt’s hand transplant comes from a serial killer. While Holt’s hand has a tendency to act up, the doc claims it’s due to hand spasms. Because she wants to avoid a scandal, Munsch tells the duo that the only solution is to look for a new “handidate” (a.k.a. hand donor).
In between looking for Donors, Chad spent his time proposing to Chanel, the love of his life. The moment was completely unexpected, and oddly romantic. Chad brought Chanel to a park to talk about his love. Then it happened, he knelt down and popped the question. No, not that question. Signing a prenup was the first step towards the direction of a wedding with Chad. Rich people. Though confident, Chad reached out to Holt later on, confessing that he had cold feet and was worried that he’d end up cheating on Chanel with a random girl down the line because the ladies find him irresistible.
Meanwhile, Chanel No. 3 was in a love story of her own. After a new patient came in complaining of constant orgasms, No. 3 admitted to Doctor Cascade that she’s never had one before. But that’s not all, apparently she’s never felt any emotions. Cascade one-upped her secret by revealing that he was actually dead. Yes, really. Doctor Cascade apparently died when he was in high school, or at least he thinks he did. The doctor decided that the only way for him to pass over and actually die is to complete his unfinished business: help No. 3 enjoy life. Awww.
Zayday, on the other hand, was more focused on the task at hand: finding out who the Green Meanie is. Her sleuthing took Munsch, Denise, and the Chanels to The House that Esron Built, Â the home of one of the only living people tied to the hospital massacre from the ’80s. During the original investigation, Lynn (the person in question) was given hush money. But now he’s ready to speak out. He’s almost certain the killer is the woman who brought her husband to the E.R. in the first episode.
Just when it seemed like things were getting better, an unbelievable tragedy struck, and Chad wound up dead. As Chanel was waiting at the altar for her groom, she felt a drop of blood. When she looked up, she saw a massive blood stain, and within seconds, a very dead Chad Radwell crashed to the ground from the ceiling. While we’re hoping he really isn’t dead, and that it was all an elaborate scam to get away from the marriage, it looks like it’s the end for Chad Radwell. Say it with me: “Nooooooooo!”
