SCREAM QUEENS Recap: Drain the Swamp

*Editor’s note: This post contains spoilers for Scream Queens. If you wish to avoid those and haven’t seen the episode yet, stop reading. Seriously.

Just like that, another season of Scream Queens is in the books, folks. Despite switching the costumes, color scheme, and location, season two was chock full of the same amount of blood, scandal, and snark as season one. While predictable, the season finale, “Drain the Swamp”, brought a hilarious end to the Chanels’ hospital reign. Are you ready to find out who made it out alive? Keep reading!

After deciding which Chanel they’d be going after, and betraying Wes (the third Green Meanie) at the last minute, Nurse Hoeffel and Cascade hit the ground running and set out to rack up their respective body counts. Although Hoeffel failed to knock Chanel out with a baseball pitching machine, she was able to knock out the remaining Chanel recruit (we lost track of which number she was) in the process.

Cascade, however, wasn’t so lucky (depending on how you look at it) because he couldn’t manage to kill Chanel No. 3. Despite siding with his mom last week, it looks like Cascade’s feelings for No. 3 are officially back and getting in the way of Nurse Hoeffel’s plan to kill all of the Chanels. Hoeffel took that as a betrayal and added Cascade to her hit list for not sticking to the plan. Once she kills Chanel, Cascade is next on her list.

Amidst the Meanie chaos, Hester was busy hatching a plan to rob Munsch blind along with Doctor Holt. Her idea was to convince him to marry Munsch to get his hands on her inheritance (a.k.a. Chad’s inheritance). After that, they’d run away to Blood Island to spend the rest of their murderous days together. It didn’t take long for Holt to warm up to the idea and prepare for his impending marriage.

The pair got married in one of the hospital hallways. With Munsch’s health dwindling because of kuru, Holt and Hester knew they were about to get away with her plan. That is until Chanel No 5 decided to butt in and perform a complicated surgery to help cure Munsch. Everybody is game for it, except Munsch–who later agreed to the surgery.

At a pretty convenient time, the girls learned that Musnch didn’t have kuru after all. It turns out the human meat she thought she ate was actually from a lamb. In fact, all Munsch needs to get better is a little rest and relaxation. To celebrate the miracle, Hoeffel decided to invite the gang to the basement for champagne. Of course, with Scream Queens being Scream Queens, the invitation was actually a trap for the girls.

After throwing the group–including Zayday, and Cascade’s mother–into a cage, Hoeffel’s plan was thwarted by Denise Hemphill’s miraculous return from cryogenic sleep. She’s back and able to diffuse the bomb that Hoeffel planted in the hospital. Once outside, Cascade professed his love to No. 3, and died. Hoeffel aslo saw her own demise after falling into the swamp at thee hospital.

At the end of the episode, we caught up with the girls several years later. No 5 and Zayday are ruling the hospital, Munsch starts her own sex therapy practice inAspen, and Chanel wound up with her own TV show. Speaking of Chanel, the final tease happened in the last few minutes. Both a Kappa pin and the silhouette of the Red Devil killer in her back seat.
