Scream at a Wall: SUPER UNISON, GRUESOME, TRAP THEM, and More!

Wipe the blood from your teeth and get in the pit, it’s time for a recap of this week’s best hardcore, metal, and punk rock. We dug through the record crates to find the new tunes we think you need to spin and rage to. Strap in kiddies, it’s time to rock.

Super Unison have just announced a partnership with Deathwish Inc. to release their debut full length later this fall. The band features the singer from hardcore outfit Punch, but their sound is considerably less brutal. There’s a bit more melody here, although the intensity and energy isn’t diminished one bit. Check out their recently released EP below, which you can pick up on vinyl from Deathwish Inc. right now.

If you’re in the mood for some classic sounding heavy metal, check out Electric Citizen. They’ve got grooves aplenty with a singer who can sing like an angel (or maybe a glorious demon). They got a new album on the way called Higher Time, and it’s a hard rocking good time. You can check out some of the new tunes below.

Gruesome play fast, ugly, thrash metal and we freaking love it. Their newest EP, Dimensions of Horror, is a real ripper that you don’t want to skip. This is the sort of metal  that calls for a circle pit; the kind of metal that gives you whiplash from headbanging. You can check out the track “Raped by Darkness” below and enjoy the hideous artwork that evokes the days of Eerie and Tales from the Crypt.

Wayfarer are freaking epic. Their tunes are so heavy that just listening to them will crush your soul under the weight of dark, black metal. One second they are ripping through blast beats and deathly screams and the next moment they are soaring with beautiful guitar melodies and casual grace. Wayfarer songs shift and move, taking you places you don’t expect, constantly catching you off guard. Rad stuff, through and through.

You all know we love a good doom, post-metal band, so of course we’re swooning over Verdun. Their album, The Eternal Drift’s Canticles, is awesome and you can hear it in its entirety below. Like a strange, sonic nightmare, this record will infect your mind with imagery and monstrosities. The band is French, and their called Verdun, so you know they’re carrying some dark, dead spirits with them. The Eternal Drift’s Canticles is out now and we’ll be picking it up, for sure. You do the same.

Lastly, word has it that grindcore outfit Trap Them have a new record coming this year. Their last album, Blissf***er, was a brutal masterpiece and one that we are still spinning today. If you’ve not listened to these guys, change that now and get hyped for new tunes. Their entire back catalog is worthy of your attention, trust us. You can hear some of their jams below and prepare your mind for their new record, which is rumored to hit this fall. We can’t wait.

That’s it for this week. Go forth, throw some horns up, and keep spinning in the black circle. If there’s a metalcore, grindcore, hardcore, or any other -core song you think the world needs to hear, sound off in the comments below. \m/
