Scott Lang Wants to Call the Avengers in New ANT-MAN Trailer

As we slide closer to the release date of Ant-Man, Marvel has kicked off a viral video campaign (the first video connected Scott Lang to the Marvel Cinematic Universe by bringing in a reporter last seen in Iron Man and referencing Sokovia) and they’ve dropped the final trailer. While the minute and a half tease reviews some footage we’ve seen before–I’ll never get tired of watching Evangeline Lilly’s Hope Van Dyne punch Paul Rudd’s Lang in the face–there’s plenty of new imagery, too. This trailer definitely features more of Darren Cross/Yellowjacket (Corey Stoll). It’s never a good sign when the villain is bald.

Like with other trailers and clips we’ve seen, the straight-faced humor is the highlight. The tone they’re hinting at makes it seem different from Marvel films that aren’t Guardians of the Galaxy, and I, for one, welcome a more fun angle. I especially love this line: “I think our first move should be calling the Avengers.” Any time something happens in the MCU, I always wonder why no one is picking up the phone to ask Captain America and company if they’re available, so I like knowing they bring it up.

The action has me sold, too. They manage to make a battle aboard Thomas the Tank Engine look explosive, and I mean, what’s not to love about that? I’m excited about this film–more excited than I thought I would be.

Ant-Man will be in theaters on July 17.
