My Little Pony invokes a lot of childhood feels in this writer. But the newest “Scientifically Accurate” video from the masters over at Animation Domination High-Def has all those warm and fuzzy feelings fleeing from my brain as fast as humanly possible. Take a second and watch the video above. Also try your hardest not to get that song stuck in your head. It’s been running around in circles in mine for about ten minutes.
OK, now that you’ve seen the video, I have to tell you — they’re totally right. Horses and ponies are not all sunshine and sparkles complete with coiffable hair to style and adorable pony marks. Real pony marks are made up of something you usually find on the floor of the stable and it does not smell like cherries when you scratch it the way the My Little Pony marks did when I was little. And horses are not fastidious creatures! There would definitely be piles of pony poop all over the place. Those piles go a long way towards creating the health problems that can plague horses and their hooves.
