Get Your Novel Published in Our Sci-Fi Inkshares Contest!

It’s a good time to be a bookworm. Though comic book adaptations still dominate the summer movie blockbusters, we’re seeing more and more novels make their way to the big and small screens, from Sony Pictures’ The Gunslinger to Starz’ smash adaptation of American Gods. And if you’re a writer yourself, it’s an even more exciting time, because your novel has the potential to be the next big thing in pop culture. Which is why we’re so excited to announce our latest publishing contest in partnership with Inkshares, where you have a chance to have your sci-fi story told.

If you’re unfamiliar with our contests with Inkshares, let us lay it out for you. For the past two years, we’ve launched several contests with Inkshares, an online crowdfunding publisher, to find some of the next great science fiction and fantasy writers. Hundreds of writers submit novel pitches, chapter samples, and character concept art in order to entice readers to pre-order their book. The top three books with the most unique pre-orders (you know, so your mom doesn’t just buy 500 copies, bless her heart) will be published and receive editorial, production, marketing, and distribution support from Inkshares. Plus, they might even option your book for a film or television adaptation!

But that’s not all. We also select one lucky winner from each contest join our official Nerdist Inkshares Collection, which are books handpicked by our editorial team to receive promotion and support from us, too.

This contest’s theme is science fiction, from near future to beyond the stars, so the possibilities are endless! You have until June 27 to enter your pitch, log line, and sample chapters to Inkshares, spread the word about the contest, and see if your book makes it to the tippity-top of pre-orders. (You’ll join the ranks of Star Wars: Rogue One writer Gary Whitta and all of our Nerdist Collection books, including Welcome to Deadland, It’s All Fun and Games, and more)
