Say Farewell to REGULAR SHOW with a Double-Death Sandwich

After eight seasons of Mordecai and Rigby’s adventures, it’s time to say goodbye to Regular Show. I’ll admit I’m a little broken up, but you know who else is broken up? My mom! (If you’re a fan, you get it.) Cartoon Network and creator J.G. Quintel have allowed Regular Show to bring some of the strangest ideas to life on television, many of which have revolved around food. Over 250 episodes, the series has given us Inferno chicken wings and cannibalistic hot dogs. But the greatest food Mordecai and Rigby have ever faced has to be the Death Sandwich.

Not only do you have to sign a waiver to eat it, but it must be consumed wearing cut-off jean shorts and a mullet. If eaten improperly… well, you’ll die. After all, it’s called the Death Sandwich for a reason. The only thing more terrifying is the Double-Death Sandwich, a double-decker version which ensures immediate death.

This hefty hoagie recipe is our tribute to the finest blue jay and raccoon to ever work as groundskeepers in a park, then later outer space. Say a final farewell to Regular Show on January 16th and risk it all by making your very own Double-Death sandwich. And remember, eat right, or you die.

Regular Show Double-Death Sandwich
You’ll need:
-2 (12-inch) demi baguettes
-12 slices Capocollo
-2 cups prepared marinara

Ingredients:
-3/4 pound ground pork
-3/4 pound ground beef
-1 cup panko breadcrumbs
-2/3 cup Parmesan cheese
-1-1/2 teaspoons dried parsley
-2 teaspoon garlic powder
-1 teaspoon onion powder
-3 eggs
-Salt and pepper

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and prep a baking sheet with parchment paper and wire rack.

In a bowl gently mix together the pork, beef, panko, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, eggs and season with salt and pepper.

Form the meat mixture into 2-inch round meatballs and place onto the prepped baking sheet.

Bake for 25 minutes until cooked through.

Place the meatballs into a skillet with 1-½ cups of the marinara and simmer on low.

Slice the bread in half and spread 2 Tablespoons of marinara onto the bottom loaf, then layer 6 slices of Capocollo.

Add half the meatballs on top of the sliced meat, then top with the second lower half bun. Onto that bun add 2 more Tablespoons marinara, the rest of the Capocollo, then the rest of the sauced meatballs.

Place the top loaf onto the top of the meatballs to serve. A skewer may be required to hold it in place.
