SAMURAI JACK Season 5 Will Premiere in March

UPDATE:¬†We’ve got just a little over a month to wait until Samurai Jack returns to our television screens, but to tide you over while you wait, Adult Swim (via EW) has released a teaser for the show’s long-awaited fifth and final season. Check it out above, and don’t miss a behind-the-scenes look at Genndy Tartatovsky’s new work in our original story below.

For 13 long years, we’ve wanted to see a conclusion to Genndy Tartakovsky‘s Samurai Jack, and now the wait is almost over. Adult Swim has revealed the premiere date of the fifth and final season!

Via ComicBook.com, Adult Swim announced that the new ten-episode season of Samurai Jack will premiere on March 11. Tartakovsky has returned for the new season, and so has the voice of Samurai Jack himself, Phil LaMarr. The original four season run of the series came to an end in 2004 without any closure for the time displaced Jack, who remained trapped in a distant future ruled by demonic adversary, Aku.¬†Tartakovsky and company have kept a pretty tight lid on the story details for the new season, but we do know that several years will have passed between the last episode and the new season. It’s also been hinted that Jack is a bit “lost” to despair after spending so long attempting to get back to the past.

Jack’s destiny in the future was hinted at all the way back in the third season of the series when he found a stable portal to the past that was guarded by an unbeatable warrior. The ending of that episode implied that Jack would eventually get home, but it also indicated that it would take him decades to do so. That story may have been unintentionally prophetic, but it could also be a glimpse at the potential ending for the series.
