SAILOR MOON Zoisite Disguise Variant Figure to Be SDCC Exclusive

Earlier this year, specifically at Wonder Festival 2015, some new Sailor Moon figures were debuted that would soon become available in the existing S.H. Figuarts line. The upcoming Tamashii Nations figures included, but were not limited to, a brand new Usagi in the form of Super Sailor Moon, Minako in proper Sailor V attire (and not just a Sailor Venus costume with the Sailor V mask), and a prototype of the forthcoming Sailor Pluto figure. Also on display was an interesting variant figure, in that it was the first time in the line one of the villains had been given an SH Figuarts sculpt.

Granted, the villain in question is Zoisite masquerading as Sailor Moon, so largely the figure is a repaint with some new faces for “Zoisite Moon” (as we’re calling him) and for Luna the cat. So while we’re still a ways off from getting proper Shitennou figures (Kunzite, Zoisite, Jadeite, Nephrite) and a full-blown Queen Beryl, this rare figure is going to be hard to get your hands on, until it hits the resale market for an insane markup. The surprised Luna face is honestly worth the price of the figure though. Take a look at the gallery below and you’ll see what we mean.

The SH Figuarts figures each run approximately $45 USD each when they launch. It’s a little on the steep side for the causal collector, but the quality and articulation of each figure more than makes up for the price for anyone who invests in one. Be careful though, if you find deal online that sounds too good to be true, it most likely is. There’s a whole bootleg market for these things. (We’ve been burned before.)

This figure is officially styled as SH Figuarts Sailor Moon Imposter Version and includes Zoisite’s boomerang instead of Usagi’s wand and moon disc, and of course the wonderfully adorable shock-faced Luna.

Are you heading to SDCC? Are you going to get one of these figures? Check out our gallery and then sound off, nerds!
