There’s a rumor that terrestrial heartthrob Ryan Gosling might soon be launched into the void in a future project. According to Deadline, there’s a very possible future collaboration on the Neil Armstrong biopic that is in development for Gosling and director Damien Chazelle.
The rumor is strengthened by the current production of La La Land, which Gosling and Chazelle are working on now. The present-day musical film is set in Los Angeles (obviously) and co-stars Emma Stone‘s ingénue to Gosling’s jazz pianist. This possible biopic casting is, as said in the headline above, a rumor that is based completely on hearsay, but I for one would not mind it being true. I’m already daydreaming of Ryan Gosling in a space suit to pass the time.
Damien Chazelle signed on to direct the biopic this past spring. He’s working with Spotlight screenwriter Josh Singer, who is adapting the historic story from James Hansenâs biography First Man: A Life Of Neil A. Armstrong. It will tell the story of Armstrong’s 1969 Apollo 11 mission. The 50th anniversary of the moon landing is still four years away, but given Hollywood production schedules, the fact that casting isn’t even determined yet isn’t that big of a deal. My guess would be they’re planning on lining up the release with the anniversary itself.
First Man will be produced by Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen. What do you think? Can any historic space odyssey compete with classics like Apollo 13? Are you now picturing Gosling in a space suit too? Tell me what you think in the comments below!
