Rumor: The Joker to Appear in BATMAN V SUPERMAN, and BATMAN to Cameo in SUICIDE SQUAD

Last week, Warner Bros. gave us our first look at Jared Leto as the Joker, tats and all, and let’s just say the reaction was decidedly…mixed. (Personally, I can live with most of the tattoos, but that “damaged” tat on his forehead is just way too dude-bro for me. That one just needs to go.) But we might want to start getting used to this Joker, because we could be seeing more of him than we originally thought; if the latest rumor is to be believed, then David Ayer’s upcoming Suicide Squad film won’t be the first place that we see the new Jared Leto incarnation of the Clown Prince of Crime, as he’s set to make a cameo appearance in Batman v Superman; Dawn of Justice first.

According to a Latino-Review report, a flashback sequence has supposedly been added to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice where we’ll see Jared Leto’s Joker beating and killing Jason Todd, aka the second Robin, which is why Batman is probably retired at the start of Batman v Superman. It would be similar to how Robin’s death led to his hanging up the cape and cowl in Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns, which we already know is a heavy influence on this movie. This would also explain why the Joker is in prison during Suicide Squad, where we’d get a flashback to the Batman vs. Joker conflict in some way. So we’d get a Batman cameo in Suicide Squad, a Joker cameo in the Batman v Superman, and we’d also set up Jason Todd, who was rumored to get a spin off movie of his own as the Red Hood a few weeks back.

Adding credence to these rumors, Ben Affleck has just been spotted in Toronto, where Suicide Squad is currently filming, and Jared Leto also posted a pic of himself with a Superman shirt on Instagram, which seems like a not very subtle hint. Could Warner be killing two birds with one stone and film both cameos for two different movies at once? Right now it does seem likely. Of course, this is bad news for people who thought Batman v Superman was looking too dark, because now it means on top of everything else, we’ll get a scene of a clown beating a kid to death with a crow bar.
