Rumor: IRON FIST Casting Breakdown Hints at Main Characters

Last week, the Iron Fist Netflix live-action series took a major step forward when former Dexter executive producer Scott Buck was named the showrunner. Now that Buck is in place, casting for Iron Fist can finally begin.

According to a report originating at Point of Geeks, the first two character descriptions from Iron Fist have been leaked. Keep in mind, this is currently an unconfirmed rumor. But if it’s true, there are some potential spoilers ahead. You’ve been warned!

These are the two descriptions in question. The names are believed to be fake placeholders for the actual characters on the show.

DYLAN KENDALL
25 – 28 yrs old Handsome and sophisticated, independent and a loner. SERIES REGULAR

HARRY MARSHALL
45 – 50 yrs old Caucasian, highly intelligent, merciless, confident and arrogant, physically active. SERIES REGULAR

It seems likely that “Dylan Kendall” is actually meant to be Danny Rand, the titular Iron Fist and the star of the series. Note that the character has no ethnicity listed, which will likely fuel speculation that Marvel TV is casting a wider net to fill the role.

“Harry Marshall” is a little more difficult to place. Harold Meachum is a pivotal figure in Danny Rand’s backstory, as his treachery led to the deaths of Danny’s parents and Danny’s exile in the mystical city of K’un-L’un. However, Meachum wasn’t “physically active” in the comics, which could mean that the character is being reimagined for the series or that he’s someone else entirely.

The initial report suggests that “Harry Marshall” could also be the villainous Steel Serpent or Orson Randall, a man who was Iron Fist before Danny Rand earned the title and the power that came with it in K’un-L’un.

One role that reportedly won’t be recast is Jessica Jones standout, Carrie-Anne Moss’ Jeri Hogarth; who was a genderswapped version of Jeryn Hogarth from the Iron Fist comics. Including Hogarth in the Iron Fist series could potentially allow Jessica Jones or Luke Cage to appear, if they end up meeting Iron Fist before The Defenders miniseries unites them with Daredevil as a team of street level heroes.

Iron Fist is rumored to begin production in April 2016. Marvel and Netflix have not yet announced a premiere date for the series.
