Rumor: Has Warner Brothers Found Its Two Main Villains for WONDER WOMAN?

With production set to commence soon on Warner Brothers’ big screen, Gal Gadot-starring version of DC Comics icon Wonder Woman, it was only a matter of time before rumors began to circulate about who else might be cast in the movie.

We already know that Star Trek’s Chris Pine is signed on for the male love interest Steve Trevor, but now a new rumor has emerged from super scooper El Mayimbe, while appearing on SourceFedNERD, that Warner Brothers is looking to cast Sean Bean of Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings fame as the Greek God of War, Ares. Ares has long been Wonder Woman’s #1 foe, and it makes sense that he’d be the villain for the film. Bean already has familiarity playing Greek Gods, having played Zeus in the Percy Jackson movies.

That’s not the only Wonder Woman rumor however; it seems Ares won’t be the only villain in the film, as apparently Warner is looking to hire Penny Dreadful star Eva Green as the sorceress Circe, another long time foe of Diana’s from the comics. Eva Green of course is also no stranger to mythological films (300: Rise of an Empire). Right now both of these casting choices are just rumors, but sources are saying these are actors that Warner Brothers has at the very top of the list.

As a very big fan of Wonder Woman in the comics, this helps me breathe a sigh of relief. One of the main complaints I have about previous Wonder Woman movies over the years is that she has not had any decent villains. While she might not have the rogue’s gallery Batman does (and really, who does?) she certainly has a few strong adversaries that are movie worthy–starting with Ares and Circe–so it’s good that they’re digging deep into the comics lore for the new film. I imagine we’ll be hearing one way or the other about whether these rumors are true, as production for Wonder Woman begins in London in just two short months.

Now, anyone out there have any guesses for who will play Wonder Woman’s mother, Queen Hippolyta? Let us know in the comments below!
