Rosario Dawson is Batgirl in THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Rosario Dawson portrays Claire Temple, a nurse who helped Daredevil in the first season of his Netflix original series. But in the LEGOverse, Dawson will get the chance to portray one of the greatest comic book heroines of all time!

Dawson has joined The LEGO Batman Movie as Barbara Gordon a.k.a. Batgirl. Will Arnett is already set to reprise his role in The LEGO Batman Movie as the Dark Knight/Caped Crusader himself, which he originated in The LEGO Movie. Other newcomers to the cinematic LEGOverse include Michael Cera as Robin and Zach Galifianakis as The Joker.

The inclusion of Barbara Gordon/Batgirl in The LEGO Batman Movie seems like a good indicator that her father, Commissioner James Gordon, will also appear in the film. However, that has yet to be officially confirmed.

Dawson is an avid comic book fan who has previously voiced Wonder Woman in Justice League: Throne of Atlantis and Artemis in the 2009 Wonder Woman animated film. Dawson is also slated to reprise her role as Claire Temple in the upcoming Luke Cage series.

The LEGO Batman Movie was written by Seth Grahame-Smith, who was recently named as the writer and the director of the upcoming feature film version of The Flash. The LEGO Movie’s animation supervisor, Chris McKay, is slated to direct The LEGO Batman Movie, with Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Phil Lord, and Christopher Miller producing the film as well.

Warner Bros. Animation will release The LEGO Batman Movie on February 10, 2017.
